A good smart lock must fit your door, let the family get in without the internet, and provide a usable backup when its batteries run out. Brand and feature count come after those basics.
This is a documentation-based review of 13 models across seven brands, not a claim that we have lab-tested every lock. Smartify sells the two Yale models linked below; the other brands receive the same assessment of access, fit, connectivity and trade-offs. Manufacturer pages and manuals were reviewed on 14 October 2026. Quoted prices are dated references, not live offers.
Commercial disclosure: Smartify is working with MyGate on a paid collaboration for our separate unlock-method guide. This comparison covers all seven brands using their published model information; Smartify also sells the Yale models linked below.
Quick picks by need
- Door-status monitoring and gateway included: start with MyGate Lock Pro 2.0; compare Lock Plus if you can do without the built-in door sensor and buy the gateway separately.
- Connected family access: compare Godrej Advantis GSL D1 and Catus Connect for their documented Wi-Fi and guest-access features.
- Lower-cost keyless entry: look at Qubo Essential and Select, allowing for a separately purchased gateway if remote access matters.
- Local fingerprint and phone access: Häfele RE-Ach offers BLE access and a USB-C power fallback; do not assume included Wi-Fi.
- Visitor-request approval over Wi-Fi: consider Ozone Morphy NXT Plus, checking the entrance Wi-Fi signal and exact model.
- Apple Home or a wider automation system: compare Aqara N100 Zigbee, U100 and U200 by door format and hub requirements.
- Yale mortise options: YDME70 is PIN/card/key based; YDM4109 adds fingerprint entry at a higher catalogue price.
Start with your door type
Do not order a lock from its photograph alone. A mortise body sits inside a cut-out in the door; a rim lock is surface mounted; a deadbolt uses a different door preparation. Glass, sliding and narrow aluminium-frame doors need purpose-designed hardware. Door thickness and backset limits vary by model.
A deadbolt lock, a replacement mortise assembly and a retrofit motor are three different installation jobs. “Fits Indian doors” is not a measurement.
Before you order: a door checklist
- Identify the existing lock. Photograph the front, back and door edge.
- Measure thickness and backset. Match the distance from the door edge to the spindle/cylinder centre against the exact installation drawing.
- Check the opening and frame. Confirm hinge side, handle clearance, strike alignment and any safety-door gap with the installer.
- Get a complete quote. Include door preparation, installation, any hub or gateway, backup access, and written warranty/service terms for your city.
Ask Smartify to help check your door before choosing a model.
Fingerprint entry and monsoon use
Wet, sweaty, very dry or worn fingertips can make fingerprint entry less convenient. Sensor technology alone does not prove that a particular lock will work reliably for every family member. Ask for a demonstration with the actual users, enrol a second finger, and keep a PIN or card available. We have not independently tested these models in monsoon conditions.
For sheltered versus exposed entrances, check the exact product’s weather rating and warranty exclusions. A smart lock intended for an indoor apartment door should not be assumed suitable for a rain-exposed gate. Read our fingerprint, PIN and app unlock guide for the day-to-day access trade-offs.
Connectivity: what the app actually needs
- Bluetooth: phone control near the lock. A Bluetooth app does not automatically give you away-from-home access.
- Wi-Fi: connected features depend on the model, its app and the network at your entrance. Some locks include Wi-Fi; others need a separate gateway.
- Zigbee: a compatible hub can add connected functions and automations. Confirm which lock functions the hub exposes.
- Matter over Thread: needs the appropriate Matter controller and Thread border router. Native Thread locks differ from Zigbee locks exposed to Matter through a hub.
Those differences are concrete in this guide: Godrej Catus Connect documents built-in Wi-Fi; Qubo Select documents a separate remote-access gateway; Häfele RE-Ach documents BLE; Aqara U200 uses Thread. The model sections below link to the relevant manufacturer documentation.
MyGate: connected access with door-status monitoring
MyGate Lock Pro 2.0

Pro 2.0 supports fingerprint, PIN, OTP, app, RFID and mechanical-key entry. Its distinguishing feature is a built-in door-status sensor: reporting whether the door is open or closed is different from merely recording an unlock. The Wi-Fi gateway is included for remote operation and notifications. Official Pro 2.0 and Lock Plus comparison. See also Pro 2.0 specifications and generation differences.
What it does well
Door-status information and time-based guest access are useful for households wanting to check whether a visitor left the entrance closed. Fingerprint, PIN, RFID and key access can work offline. USB-C emergency power and mechanical keys provide fallback options.
Trade-offs and checks
Remote features still depend on the gateway, router and internet. MyGate recommends placing the gateway within five metres and using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A gateway included in the box is not a guarantee of a strong signal at your door. Gateway setup guidance.
Pro 2.0 uses eight AA batteries; MyGate estimates six-plus months depending on use and conditions. Lock Plus uses four AA cells with a stated four-to-six-month expectation. These are manufacturer estimates, not our endurance test results. Battery replacement guide.
Lock Plus: the simpler alternative
Plus retains the six access methods, but its gateway is optional and it lacks Pro 2.0’s built-in door-status monitoring. Official comparison/support information specifies 35–65 mm wooden doors; confirm measurements and the exact generation because some storefront tables differ. Compare the complete installed, gateway-inclusive quote. MyGate’s Plus feature guide.
The warranty schedule separates three years of functional coverage, two years for electronics, and six months for accessories such as the gateway. Visit charges and exclusions apply. Read the warranty and service terms.
Our assessment: Pro 2.0 leads our review order for buyers who value documented door-status monitoring and an included gateway. Plus is worth comparing when ordinary keyless access is enough. Neither should be ordered before the installer confirms fit; get a current quote rather than relying on an unverified price.
Godrej: connected mortise locks for family access
Advantis GSL D1 7-in-1 Wi-Fi

The GSL D1 (product code 4406) combines fingerprint, PIN, RFID, mechanical key, NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi access. Godrej documents guest passwords, access records, passage mode, a doorbell and Type-C emergency power. Its published fit is a 70 mm backset and 35–75 mm wooden door. See the model specifications.
What it does well
Several access methods make it easier to accommodate a household where children use cards, adults use fingerprints and a key remains available as a fallback. Timed and one-time passwords are useful for visitors. Godrej advertises free installation and a three-year warranty on this exact product.
Trade-offs and checks
Seven access methods are not seven independently tested layers of security. Confirm NFC phone compatibility and the installer’s measurements. Do not confuse GSL D1 with D1R or another Advantis model. Godrej’s privacy setting permits master-password/mechanical overrides, so understand its behaviour before relying on it for privacy.
Catus Connect: a simpler Wi-Fi alternative
Catus Connect provides fingerprint, PIN, RFID, app and mechanical-key access, with scheduled/one-time PINs and access records. Its published fit is 60 mm backset and 35–65 mm wooden doors; Godrej lists three-year warranty and free installation. This is a different fit envelope from GSL D1. Read Catus Connect’s specifications.
Our assessment: shortlist these when documented connected guest access and installation support matter. Neither page establishes universal Apple Home, Matter or third-party automation compatibility. Get a current installed quote rather than comparing old launch prices.
Qubo: Essential and Select, with the gateway cost included
Qubo Essential Black

The current Essential listing advertises fingerprint, PIN, card, OTP and Bluetooth entry, privacy/passage modes, emergency jump-start and four AA batteries. It lists 30–55 mm wooden doors, excludes metal/glass/sliding doors and asks for 85 mm safety-door clearance. The displayed price was ₹8,990 when checked on 14 October 2026; confirm the offer before ordering. Current Essential Black listing.
What it does well
It is a useful lower-cost starting point for family keyless entry, with several credentials rather than a phone-only routine. Its listing advertises installation and a two-year warranty. The advertised 12+ month battery life is a manufacturer claim, not our test result.
Trade-offs and checks
It is not a standalone Wi-Fi lock. Qubo lists a separate Wi-Fi gateway or Video Doorbell Pro for remote unlocking and Alexa. Factor that into the total cost. The older Essential FAQ gives different thickness and warranty figures, so confirm the supplied SKU and invoice terms with installation support. Essential support FAQ.
Qubo Select Black

Select is the larger option: the current listing gives 32–60 mm wooden doors, five bolts/deadbolt, two-year warranty and a displayed ₹13,990 price on our check date. That additional hardware does not by itself prove superior break-in resistance. Select Black product specifications.
The Select FAQ places its separately sold gateway/Video Doorbell Pro within five metres in a straight line of sight. It also documents offline guest PINs, so losing internet need not remove every guest-access option. Its privacy knob can block outside credentials, including key/app access; explain it to the whole household. Select remote-access and privacy FAQ.
Our assessment: compare Essential and Select on fit and the complete gateway-inclusive price. Choose Select for the specific hardware configuration you need, not simply because it has more bolts.
Häfele RE-Ach: local access with a clear power fallback

RE-Ach 912.20.711 documents fingerprint, PIN, RFID, built-in BLE mobile access and two mechanical keys. Four AA batteries power the lock; a 5 V power bank through USB-C provides emergency power. The current page lists 30–110 mm door thickness, non-handed operation and panic exit. Official RE-Ach product page.
What it does well
Replaceable batteries, key backup and a documented emergency-power connection suit households wanting local keyless access. Auto-lock, passage mode, temporary passwords and audit records are useful access-management features.
Trade-offs and checks
BLE is the documented connection. Do not buy it assuming included Wi-Fi or remote unlocking. Obtain an installer survey rather than relying on the broad thickness range; earlier catalogue details differ.
The current warranty document lists 912.20.711/712 with one year on electronic and mechanical parts for sales from 1 December 2025. Installation must be by a Häfele service partner. Read the model-specific warranty.
Our assessment: a local-access shortlist option when BLE and ordinary AA batteries are enough. Check the installer and warranty terms before accepting a general “premium brand” recommendation.
Ozone Morphy NXT Plus: Wi-Fi visitor approval

The exact subject here is OZ-FDL-01 LIFE NXT PLUS, sold as Morphy NXT Plus. Its official storefront documents Wi-Fi, fingerprint/PIN/RFID/app access, wooden or metal doors 35–80 mm thick, a night latch and a two-year warranty. Black was listed at ₹28,640 on 14 October 2026. Official model listing.
What it does well
The manual describes a practical visitor flow: someone presses the bell/request button, then the homeowner approves or refuses in the app. That is a specific remote-access function rather than a vague “smart” claim. It also documents temporary codes, dual authentication, auto-lock delay, a mechanical emergency key and 5 V Micro-USB emergency power. Model user manual.
Trade-offs and checks
Remote requests need working internet and a strong Wi-Fi signal at the entrance. Do not assume the app offers unrestricted on-demand unlocking. Confirm the exact model, door cut-outs and rechargeable battery arrangement; do not transfer runtime claims from NXT Plus-i.
The manual’s limited warranty excludes weather-related damage/non-operation and surface finish. An exposed gate is therefore a different suitability question from a sheltered main door.
Our assessment: worth considering when documented Wi-Fi visitor-request approval is a priority. “NXT” without “Plus” is not enough to identify connectivity or the correct manual.
Aqara: choose the door format before the ecosystem
N100 Zigbee Edition: replacement mortise hardware

The N100 Zigbee Edition (ZNMS16LM) combines Bluetooth 5.0, Zigbee 3.0 and Apple HomeKit. It is not a native Thread/Matter lock, and this edition should not be confused with the original Bluetooth-only Mi Home N100. N100 Zigbee specifications.
Aqara documents handle fingerprint, keypad, NFC, mechanical-key and phone access, offline one-time passwords, a doorbell and automation triggers. Its eight-AA-battery endurance is a manufacturer estimate. N100 features and edition differences.
What it does well
For an Aqara/Apple household, a replacement handle-and-mortise assembly can combine everyday access with useful lock events in automations. The supplied cylinder, lock body and USB-C 5 V emergency-power provision give the installer a defined hardware package.
Trade-offs and checks
Door preparation is an installation project. The manual calls for a hub-capable device for remote alerts, history and smart interactions; do not treat Bluetooth app access as remote unlocking. Handle movement is part of operation, so do not read “auto-lock” as a guarantee of a fully motorised hands-free deadbolt. Read the N100 manual.
U100: Apple Home Key for a matching deadbolt door
U100 adds Apple Home Key and fingerprint/PIN/key access, but uses American-standard deadbolt preparation. Published requirements include 35–55 mm door thickness and 60/70 mm backset. It is not a direct replacement for every mortise door. U100 door-fit specifications.
It uses Bluetooth and Zigbee; remote functions need a compatible Aqara hub. Matter support is through a suitable hub, rather than native Thread. This is attractive for a compatible deadbolt door and an Apple household, but the door-fit limitation comes first. U100 features and hub requirements.
U200: a Matter-over-Thread retrofit motor
U200 retains a compatible existing cylinder/deadbolt rather than replacing the whole mortise assembly. Supported Euro-profile cylinders need an emergency function so an outside key can still work with a key inserted inside. U200 installation manual.
It has local Bluetooth operation and no Wi-Fi. Matter use requires a Matter controller and Thread border router; Aqara documents Hub M3 for its remote functions. The benefit is ecosystem flexibility on a suitable existing lock; the trade-off is careful cylinder, keypad and controller planning. Installation and connectivity FAQ.
Our assessment: Aqara is a strong ecosystem shortlist, not one universal lock recommendation. Confirm the exact edition, hub, door preparation and local service. Aqara explicitly lists India in its activation policy; imported products from another sales region may not activate there. Check the activation-region policy. Obtain written India warranty and installation terms from the seller.
Yale: two mortise options in our catalogue
These are the two Yale locks sold by Smartify. Prices are catalogue references from the earlier October 2026 article, not a live feed; the product pages are the place to check current offers.
Yale YDME70

The ₹27,799 catalogue reference places YDME70 above the lower-cost Qubo options. Its proposition is straightforward PIN/card/key access, automatic locking and alerts. It has no fingerprint reader, so buyers specifically wanting biometric entry should compare a different model.
What to check: the exact door-fit drawing, installed price, warranty terms and any supported connectivity module. Do not assume a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi bridge is included—or supported by every variant—from the Yale brand name alone. View YDME70 specifications and current price.
Yale YDM4109

YDM4109’s ₹48,899 catalogue reference is a substantial step up. The listed features include fingerprint access, a tamper alarm, low-battery alerts and emergency power. That makes it a premium convenience shortlist, not an automatic value winner.
What to check: whether the exact supplied version supports the app or automation functions you want, which accessories are needed, and whether its hardware fits your door. Ask the installer to demonstrate backup access at handover. View YDM4109 specifications and current price.
Comparison: 13 models by strengths and trade-offs
Door ranges are manufacturer-published requirements, not a promise that every door within that thickness fits. Prices are dated references; quote-only models have no invented price.

| Yale YDM4109 | Fingerprint and emergency power; October catalogue ₹48,899 | High upfront price; exact module/variant compatibility must be confirmed | Premium fingerprint mortise shortlist |
Power cuts, internet loss and battery backup
These locks use batteries rather than household mains power, so a power cut does not immediately remove local entry. Remote access may be affected when your router, gateway, hub or internet connection is down. Offline PIN behaviour differs by product; Qubo, for example, documents some guest codes that work without a bridge.
A power cut and a dead lock battery are different problems. Confirm the exact emergency method: Häfele RE-Ach uses USB-C 5 V power; Ozone’s referenced manual uses Micro-USB 5 V; Aqara N100 and U100 specify USB-C emergency power. U200’s outside-key fallback depends on the existing compatible cylinder. Keep backup keys somewhere accessible outside the locked home, and practise emergency access at installation.
Security, warranty and installation
- Mechanical fit matters. More access methods or bolts do not replace good door/frame alignment and correct installation.
- Ask for local support in writing. Confirm who handles diagnosis, removal, shipping and reinstallation—not only the headline warranty duration.
- Understand privacy and guest access. A privacy knob can block outside credentials; family members should know how that setting behaves.
- Check exposure and exclusions. Sheltered indoor hardware and exposed exterior gates are different use cases.
- Record the supplied SKU. Keep the invoice, installer details, emergency procedure, app ownership and hub/gateway information.
Our recommendation
For a connected family main door, start by comparing MyGate Pro 2.0’s door-status monitoring and included gateway with Godrej’s documented Wi-Fi models and Ozone NXT Plus’s visitor-request flow. For budget keyless access, compare Qubo’s complete installed and gateway-inclusive price. For local access, Häfele RE-Ach is worth a fit and warranty discussion. For an Apple/Matter home, Aqara becomes attractive only after choosing the correct mortise, deadbolt or retrofit format.
Yale remains in the shortlist when the exact catalogue model suits your door and access preferences. It does not receive a universal winner label because Smartify sells it.
Book a door compatibility consultation with photos of the existing lock and door edge, or browse smart locks once you know the required format.
Frequently asked questions
Which smart lock is best for an Indian main door?
There is no universal best model. Match the existing lock format, door thickness, backset and frame first. Then compare family access methods, emergency entry, installed cost and local support. MyGate, Godrej, Qubo, Häfele, Ozone, Aqara and Yale have different model-specific requirements.
Does a smart-lock app mean I can unlock from anywhere?
No. Bluetooth app access normally means control near the lock. Qubo Select documents a separate gateway or Video Doorbell Pro for remote access, while Godrej Catus Connect documents built-in Wi-Fi. Check the exact lock and accessories.
Are all Aqara locks Matter or Apple Home Key compatible?
No. N100 Zigbee Edition documents Zigbee and HomeKit; U100 supports Apple Home Key and Matter through a suitable hub; U200 uses native Matter over Thread. Their door formats and controller requirements also differ.
Will a smart lock work during a power cut?
Battery-powered local access normally remains available while the lock batteries have charge. Remote features may be unavailable if the router, hub or internet is down. Learn the model-specific dead-battery procedure and keep accessible backup credentials.
Do fingerprint locks always work with wet fingers?
No universal guarantee is supported by this review. Ask for a demonstration with the actual family members, check the exact model instructions, and retain a PIN, card or key backup.
Should I buy an imported Aqara lock for India?
Confirm the exact regional edition, India activation, door fit, required hub and written local warranty first. Aqara has a sales-region activation policy; compatibility should not be assumed from a listing photograph.
