Overview
Bluetooth, in practical terms.
Bluetooth's role in an Indian smart home is narrower than the device listings suggest. It is genuinely good for things you operate while standing next to them — a smart lock you unlock as you reach the door, a speaker, a bulb in a rented room — because pairing is direct and there is no hub or account in the way. Range is 5 to 15 metres and walls cut it hard.
What Bluetooth cannot do is run a home. There is no automation that fires while you are out, no remote control without a bridge, and Bluetooth Mesh, while real, has almost no presence in the Indian retail market. Treat Bluetooth as a feature of individual devices rather than as the backbone of a system, and build the system itself on Zigbee.
