A window left open can change how a room feels long before anyone notices. Door Window Sensor 8 combines opening detection with tilt and environmental information, helping your home distinguish an entry event from ventilation and respond through your chosen automation system.
What it does
- A magnetic contact reports opening and closing. Tilt sensing adds useful information for compatible windows when the sensor body moves with the opening section.
- Temperature, humidity and calculated dew point provide context for ventilation routines. Mould-risk notifications indicate environmental conditions, not a measurement of actual mould.
- Battery power keeps the installation unobtrusive, while USB-C offers an alternative where a permanent supply is convenient. Tamper reporting can identify disturbance of the mounted unit.

Installation and compatibility
Align the magnet with the backplate markings and test opening reports before using the adhesive or screws. Tilt detection requires the main sensor body to move with the window. Select the intended power mode before pairing: a unit included on USB remains always listening and uses its battery as backup; it does not automatically become a sleeping sensor when USB is removed. Use indoors in dry conditions.
Planning your automation
An example routine can notify you if a window remains open when you leave. Another could pause compatible air conditioning after a sustained opening, then restore it once closed. Add a delay to avoid reacting to a brief opening. Home Assistant/Z-Wave JS and SmartThings setup are covered by Aeotec; SmartThings requires the specified custom Edge driver. Match the supplied radio region to your hub and verify that tilt and environmental reports are exposed by its driver.
