Sonos Amp brings streaming music to passive loudspeakers, including a carefully designed pair of ceiling or wall speakers. Keep the listening space visually calm while the amplifier sits with the rest of the equipment. Music selection and room grouping happen in the Sonos app, with AirPlay 2 available for compatible Apple devices.

Design the speaker circuit first

Its two amplified channels deliver 125 watts each into an 8-ohm load. Speaker choice, cable runs and the combined load need checking before installation; several connected pairs do not become independently controlled rooms. Each independently controlled audio zone needs an appropriate system design. The stereo RCA input accepts a suitable line-level source; a turntable may require its own phono preamplifier.

Add the television and bass

Connect a television through its HDMI ARC connection for supported TV sound. Optical-only televisions need the separate Sonos optical adapter. A wired powered subwoofer can connect through the RCA sub output, or the system can use compatible Sonos bass equipment. Confirm the full surround arrangement before quoting. Trueplay tuning on Amp requires supported Sonos Architectural by Sonance speakers and a compatible iOS device; it is not available for every passive speaker.
