SONOFF SNZB-05P is a compact, battery-powered Zigbee water-leak sensor. Its probe feet detect water at the placement point, while an optional detection cable extends coverage beyond the body. A compatible gateway can use the leak event for notifications, an audible alert through another device, or a separately configured shutoff automation.

What it does

• Gold-plated sensing contacts are intended to resist corrosion at the detection surface.
• The sensor body carries an IP67 rating; the manufacturer nevertheless specifies indoor use.
• Optional external leak-detection cable can reach along an area where a single point sensor would leave gaps. Cable inclusion depends on the selected pack.

Where it fits

Choose the likely collection point for a leak rather than simply placing the unit close to an appliance. Beneath a sink, consider both supply joints and the drain; beside a washing machine, consider the inlet and outlet hoses. An extension cable may be useful around a wider footprint. After installation, test the whole response chain so that a leak event produces the intended notification or other action.

Setup and compatibility

Connect through a compatible Zigbee gateway and test communication at floor level in the final location. SONOFF lists its bridges and selected third-party controllers; alarms and remote notifications depend on their supported functions. Pairing uses a five-second button hold. Automatic water isolation requires a separate compatible valve actuator plus an explicitly configured and tested automation.

Important details

The device does not stop a leak by itself and is not a water-flow meter. Very high humidity can trigger the optional detection cable; after a wet event, SONOFF instructs users to dry that cable thoroughly before reuse. Its advertised five-year battery figure is based on a stated test pattern, not a guaranteed maintenance interval. Verify battery status and periodically test notifications.
