SmartNode IR Emitter

The IRE.1 is a five-channel infrared control module with a Wi-Fi connection to Smart Node. Unlike simply placing a broad-area blaster on a shelf, its channel arrangement supports a planned emitter installation for multiple compatible appliances.

What it does

Each channel can control an IR appliance independently. Per-button delays allow commands to be sequenced, which can be useful when an appliance needs time to start before accepting the next instruction. Scheduling and scene participation can bring the same controls into everyday routines.

The manufacturer allows CAT6 extensions up to 20 metres for each channel. That is the stated wired channel-extension distance, not a claim that an infrared beam will travel 20 metres around a room or through a cabinet. Emitter placement at the receiving appliance remains part of installation.

Planning your installation

For a media-room example, the installer could build a sequence that starts a projector, waits for it to be ready and then sends the next supported remote command. The exact sequence depends on the appliance; it should be tested rather than assumed from the brand name.

Send the make and model of each appliance and its original remote before ordering. Identify where the module will receive mains power and Wi-Fi coverage, and how the emitter cables can reach each receiver. Agree whether the original handheld remotes will remain in use and how that affects the desired routines.

Compatibility and limitations

Infrared control does not add RF, Bluetooth or HDMI-CEC compatibility. It also does not inherently confirm that an appliance acted on a command; verify state behaviour for the proposed equipment. The package’s emitters, cable lengths and commissioning scope are confirmed in the quote.
