SmartNode SmartNode DALI Relay Module
Key features
Include an ordinary switched circuit in a DALI lighting plan. The relay module lets compatible non-DALI equipment respond to the system’s groups and scenes, so a simple on/off load can take part alongside dimmable fittings. It is a switching interface, with the load and wiring selected by the installer.

Product Description
SmartNode DALI Relay Module
The DRM.1 links a non-DALI load to a DALI controller. It is useful when part of a lighting scheme only needs on/off control, but should still participate in the same room scenes or scheduled routines as DALI-enabled fittings.
What it does
The module uses one DALI address and reports its on/off state to the controller. The manufacturer describes an electrically isolated, potential-free relay arrangement, allowing the DALI side and the switched-load side to serve different roles.
Two configurable states are particularly useful during commissioning: System Failure Level determines behaviour when DALI communication power is lost, and Power On Level determines the relay state after load-side power returns. These should be selected deliberately for the application rather than left unexplained at handover.

Planning your installation
For example, a scene might dim the main lighting while switching a separate decorative circuit completely off. The relay can supply the on/off part of that arrangement; it cannot create a smooth fade for a non-dimmable lamp. Identify such circuits early so the designer can distinguish dimmed channels from switched channels.
Provide the actual load’s wattage, starting current and operating voltage. The installer should confirm the contact arrangement, protection, enclosure space and bus current budget before selecting the module. Include a test of the intended recovery behaviour during commissioning.
Compatibility and limitations
The 16 A headline is not blanket approval for every motor, LED driver or capacitive load. The datasheet’s contact wording is inconsistent between sections, so confirm the required NO/NC behaviour and wiring for the supplied revision. Use the relay only within its verified electrical ratings.
The image illustrates the manufacturer’s product range; the supplied component or enclosure can differ by model.
