A PIN gives household members another way to enter without passing a key between them. Select brings these options together on the door, so a family can choose the access method that suits each person rather than relying on everyone having a charged phone.

Manage access for family and visitors

The Qubo app is used to commission the lock and manage its members. The manufacturer also documents offline PIN generation for guest access without the optional gateway. This makes it possible to plan access for a visitor separately from permanent household access. During setup, decide who should administer the lock and ask the installer to demonstrate adding, checking and removing credentials before the installation is signed off.

Build a connected entrance when you need it

Local access and remote unlocking serve different needs. For control while away from home, Select needs a compatible Qubo Wi-Fi gateway or Qubo Video Doorbell Pro. With the doorbell option, visitor video and supported lock control can form one entrance setup. Check the distance and obstructions between the lock and its gateway during the site survey; purchasing the lock alone does not provide an internet connection.

Fit, power and a dependable daily routine

The door and frame matter as much as the electronics. Check the existing lock cut-out, bolt alignment, handle clearance and any outer safety door before fitting. Qubo specifies four AA batteries and provides a low-battery warning and emergency jumpstart provision. Keep a plan for battery replacement and backup entry. This lock is not waterproof, so a protected apartment entrance is a different installation proposition from an exposed external gate.

Compatibility and installation

This model is specified for compatible wooden doors between 32 and 60 mm thick. It is not intended for metal, glass or sliding doors. Have the door thickness, mortise and safety-door clearance checked before installation. A professional should fit and align the lock so the bolts move freely. The gateway or doorbell required for remote access is a separate dependency; do not assume that Select has built-in Wi-Fi.

Frequently asked questions

Will it work on my existing door?

The manufacturer specifies compatible wooden doors 32–60 mm thick. Thickness alone is not enough: the existing mortise, frame and available clearance also need checking. Metal, glass and sliding doors are outside this model’s stated fit.

Do I need the Wi-Fi gateway for ordinary unlocking?

No. The optional gateway is for remote connectivity. Fingerprint, PIN, card and mechanical-key entry are separate access methods. For app features, follow the Bluetooth and account requirements in Qubo’s setup instructions.

What happens when the batteries run low?

The lock provides a low-battery alert. Qubo documents emergency power through the front-panel USB-C jumpstart connection if the batteries are depleted. Have the installer demonstrate this and explain the backup-key procedure while the door is open.
