Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition adds microphones, a speaker and physical controls to Assist, the voice assistant in Home Assistant. It connects to an existing Home Assistant installation and needs a configured voice pipeline. This is a configurable voice accessory for supported home-control tasks, with capabilities that depend on the selected software, language and processing hardware.

Make familiar routines easier to reach

Place the device where you commonly ask for lights or other supported actions. Name rooms and devices clearly, expose the intended entities to Assist, and try the phrases your household will actually use. The rotary dial, multipurpose button and illuminated ring give the device a physical interface alongside voice commands.

Choose local or cloud speech processing

Supported local speech processing can keep voice tasks on your own hardware, but the language, model and host performance matter. Focused local speech models handle supported predefined home-control phrases; more general speech recognition can require a more powerful host. Optional Home Assistant Cloud is a separate service. This accessory itself is not the computer that performs all speech processing.

Plan power, audio and placement

Supply a USB-C cable and a suitable 5 V, 2 A power adapter; neither is included. Connect over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The built-in speaker is intended for voice feedback, while the 3.5 mm output can connect suitable external speakers. Keep the unit indoors in a dry location. The physical mute switch cuts microphone power when privacy is needed.
