Aqara Presence Sensor FP1E uses mmWave radar to detect human presence, including the small movements of someone sitting or resting. It can also distinguish moving and still states within Aqara Home. That makes it suitable for room-occupancy routines where a conventional PIR sensor may stop detecting someone who has settled into a chair.

What it does

• Radar sensing reaches up to 6 m, with the maximum detection range configurable in Aqara Home to suit the room.
• Aqara states a 120° field of view, expanding at close range, with up to 35 m² wall-mounted coverage or 50 m² ceiling-mounted coverage under the specified installation conditions.
• Movement/stillness state and duration can support more deliberate automations, rather than just a momentary motion trigger.
• A rotatable head, magnetic mount and adhesive sticker provide flexible positioning; the device needs continuous USB power.

Where it fits

FP1E is a useful choice for a home office or lounge: an occupancy rule can maintain the lighting while you work at a desk, then change the scene when the room is empty. Use a sensible absence delay so a brief exit does not immediately switch off equipment. Test the selected detection range against the room boundaries and typical positions before linking consequential actions.

Setup and compatibility

Pair with a supported Aqara Zigbee hub. Matter integration is provided through a compatible Aqara Matter bridge; FP1E is not a native Matter-over-Thread sensor. Hub model, firmware and platform determine which functions are exposed. Aqara Home’s learning and movement/stillness features should not be assumed to appear identically in every third-party application.
