Lighting that responds to movement and daylight

TriSensor 8 gives your home the information needed for practical room automation without covering the wall in sensors. It notices movement, measures the available light and reports temperature, helping a compatible hub decide when lighting or connected climate equipment should respond.

What it does

• Three readings support more selective rules: motion can trigger the action, while daylight and temperature determine whether that action is useful.
• The compact battery-powered body can be positioned where people enter a room without routing a power cable to the sensor.
• Z-Wave 800-series communication and S2 security support integration with a compatible controller. Long Range is limited to the US-frequency version and requires a supporting hub.

Installation and compatibility

Install in a dry indoor location with an unobstructed view across the normal walking route. Aeotec recommends avoiding nearby heaters, air conditioners and metal objects that affect readings or radio performance. The guide suggests approximately 2.5 m wall mounting with a downward angle, or at least 3 m for ceiling placement. Confirm regional frequency and hub support before ordering.

Planning your automation

In an entrance passage, a rule could bring the lights on only after sunset or below your chosen light threshold. For a guest room, temperature trends can inform a separate climate-control routine. Set an appropriate off-delay for each space, since a person quietly reading may stop producing motion events. Reporting intervals and battery life involve a trade-off; configure only the update frequency your routines need and test coverage before permanent mounting.
