An evening light should respond to someone walking in, while a sunlit room may need no extra lighting at all. MultiSensor 7 brings movement and environmental readings together, giving your automation system the context to make these everyday decisions without separate devices around the room.

What it does

• Motion and ambient light can work together in a hub rule, so a passing person triggers lighting only when the room is dark enough.
• Temperature and humidity readings help a compatible controller decide when to run connected climate equipment. UV measurements add another environmental reading; they do not turn the sensor into a medical instrument.
• Vibration sensing can report disturbance of the device. Treat this as tamper information rather than a certified building vibration alarm.

Installation and compatibility

Choose battery or USB power before inclusion: USB operation supports repeating Z-Wave mesh messages, while battery operation does not. Aeotec recommends excluding and including again if changing the power mode. Use a dry indoor position with a clear view of movement. Confirm the supplied radio region matches the hub; the controller determines which readings and automation options are exposed.

Planning your automation

For a corridor, start with a motion-triggered light and a sensible delay before switching it off. In a study, use the light reading to avoid unnecessary daytime activation. Test the chosen position before fixing the mount, and allow for someone sitting still: PIR motion is not continuous presence detection.
