Since its inception, home automation has come a long way. Intelligent lighting is no longer about just turning lights on/off from your smartphone, tablet or computer. It has become much more reactive to contextual information, allowing users to conserve energy, without being actively involved In other words, smart lighting devices are now reactive to external events, and can automatically calibrate the power consumption for you
For instance, LIFX allows you to intelligently setup solar schedule, so that you can tune your home lighting based on external lighting, and bring down your bills with zero compromise on your comfort.
Of course, you can always create your pre-defined scenes and schedules, but setting up a solar schedule is an awesome, intuitive and cost-effective way to have an optimum lighting experience.
If you have setup your LIFX bulbs already, here’s how you can get started with creating solar schedules.
Step 1: Open up the LIFX app. Navigate to the bottom in the scenes and schedules section and tap “New Schedules”.
Step 2: Click on the “Start Time”. Here there are two options “Specific Time” and “With the Sun”. In Specific Time, you need to manually set the time when you would want your bulbs to start. The other option of “With the Sun” is location based wherein the LIFX apps detects the location of your home.
Step 3: In “With the Sun”, you get two options of sunrise and sunset. As you need your lights to turn on after sunset, choose the sunset out of the two options. Below that, you get to see the Start Time icon. Tap it and you get several options as to when to Turn on your LIFX bulbs. Note that these are daily updating times and will always be accurate to your local sunset times.
Step 4: Once done, go back to the screen that shows you the details of this new schedule. in the “Pick Lighting” section, you could select the lighting for your living room, entire home, etc. You can even select the scene for specific lighting if you have created it.
Step 5: Turn on the power and adjust your brightness as per your need. You can similarly select the color and the fade duration.! Take a look at the video below to get a better idea on how to setup solar schedule with your LIFX bulbs .
